How Many Quotes Should You Get for Tree Removal?
Three, for a routine job. Four or five when the tree is big, hazardous, or hanging over something expensive. One, honestly, when a storm just put it through your fence and every crew in the county is booked — emergencies trade comparison for speed, and that’s okay.
What to compare (it isn’t just the total)
Line up the scopes: does each bid include stump grinding? Hauling? Cleanup? A $1,200 quote that leaves the wood and a $1,900 quote that leaves a raked lawn are different products. Then the two questions that outrank price: Can you show me proof of insurance? and Who exactly does the climbing? Confident answers to both are worth several hundred dollars of difference; mumbled answers are worth walking away from.
A tell worth knowing
The best quote conversations include at least one moment where the estimator talks you OUT of something: a tree that doesn’t need removal, a cheaper option like cabling, wood you could keep to save the haul fee. Estimators who only ever add to the ticket are selling; the ones who subtract are quoting.
We’re happy to be one of your three: free, itemized, in writing, with proof of insurance offered before you ask.
